24 January, Mongar: The Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, was on tour to the remote Chiwogs of Mongar Dzongkhag from 18-23 January, 2023. Enroute to Mongar Dzongkhag, HSL met with the staffs of Dungsum Cement Corporation Ltd, Nganglam and visited the Cement factory plant. The team was accompanied by the National Assembly member of Parliament of Khenkhar-Weringla & Mongar constituency, Dzongkhag Agriculture Sector and Regional Agriculture Head. The team visited all the remote Chiwog of five Gewogs.
Sanam Lyonpo interacted with famers and briefed on the on-going RNR activities such as million fruits tree plantation program, participation in preparation of 13th FYP and strategies in doing agricultural related activities such as market led production, value-addition, packaging, commercial farming and rural economy enhancement. Moreover, the issues related to public on improvement of high breed vegetable and fruits products, renovation of irrigation channel, farm road, Chain-link fencing, land Development, Farm machinery power tiller services, supply of high yield variety seed and seedling of both vegetables & fruits to enhance income for the improvement of rural livelihood were addressed. Lyonpo informed the youths to come up with new idea/technology/innovation through Icitization of agriculture related activities through formation of groups and cooperatives. HSL also discussed on the availability of drinking water, internal road connectivity, education reforms, land related issue among many others.
During his week-long tour, HE Lyonpo met with Gewog Thrizin, Chiwog Tshopas of every Gewog and presented on the ongoing plans and programs, progress and its issues during the implementation of the plan. Lyonpo iterated and urged public to take active participation in local development plans and programs especially in preparation of 13th FYP.
HSL attended the last day of Zhabdrung Dagnang Mai Drupchen at Kidhey Shedra and celebrated the Traditional Day of Offerings (Dawa Chunipai Losar) with HH Chabje Rimpoche at Autsho Namdroling Goenzang Dratshang. Enroute to Trashigang, HSL graced the opening ceremony of Desuung Skilling Program, second phase of Million Fruit Tree Plantation at Agriculture Research and Development Center, Wengkhar in Mongar Dzongkhag.
