Update of Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo’s Visit to the Eastern Dzongkhags.

In the ongoing tour of the Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo in the Eastern Bhutan, Lyonpo visited the Kurtoed Food Processing Unit and a mixed vegetable farm at Lingabe village under Gangzur Gewog in Lhuntse Dzongkhag on 16 April 2022. The CARLEP supported the purchase of processing equipment to three youth operating the processing plant and mulching plastics and greenhouse to a family farm.

Later, Lyonpo met with 15 households of Ngar village of Gangzur gewog engaged in cultivation of mixed vegetables in more than five acres. The vegetables are supplied to schools through the School and Hospital Feeding Program. The tour in Lhuntse was concluded with a visit to the Dairy Processing Plant operated by the Noguen Phuendey Detshen in Menji Gewog.

On 17 April 2022, on the way to Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag, Lyonpo visited Oyster Mushroom Farm in Ngatshang Gewog in Mongar Dzongkhag started by a Dessup Phub Gyeltshen as a part of post skilling enterprise after undergoing De-suup Skilling Program. With the technical support from the Agriculture Research and Development Center, Wengkhar, and budget support by CARLEP through Cost Sharing Mechanism, he is able to start mushroom farming. Additionally, he also is recipient of the fund support from the Ministry to start vegetable production and he will soon venture into vegetable production in 1.5 acres.

In Ngatshang gewog, Lyonpo also visited the Milk Collection Center in Yadi which collects milk from three gewogs and the Woopkhar irrigation channel which benefits around 100 households.

Towards evening, Lyonpo met with De-suups and other officials engaged in construction of the Wangrimo Irrigation water project in Trashi Yangtse.

On 18 April 2022, Lyonpo visited Urka Bangla Processing Plant in Yangtse town. The Processing Plant was constructed with support of the CARLEP and was completed in June 2021.  The Plant is operated by six members and produces four varieties of products. Lyonpo also visited the Sub-center of National Seed Center in Jachiphu.

Towards afternoon, Lyonpo visited Buyang Integrated Farm. The farm area of 3.77 acres involves Dairy, poultry and vegetable production. CARLEP supported in constructions of sheds for cattle and poultry, purchase of cattle, layer DoC (Day old Chick) and greenhouse.

Lyonpo also met with De-suups engaged in the Million Fruit Tree Plantation Project in Tongzang Gewog, Trashi Yangtse, and De-suung National Service in construction of Khangdari-Godari irrigation scheme, Yangyneer Gewog, Trashigang.

During meetings with De-suups at Wangrimo, Tongzang Gewog Center and Godari, Lyonpo thanked De-suups for their immense contribution to the nation through various national services. Particularly, Lyonpo expressed his gratitude for the engagement and commendable effort put in for carrying out the ongoing Million Fruit Tree Plantation Project and National Dog Population Management and Rabies Control Project.
