Sixth PSC meeting for EU-TCP held virtually

22 July, Thimphu: The sixth project steering committee (PSC) meeting for the EU-Technical Cooperation Project (TCP) in support of RNR Sector was held virtually under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Agriculture Secretary, Dasho Rinzin Dorji. Others including the EU team, committee members and the focal persons attended it virtually.

The meeting shared the project achievements and impacts, evaluation findings and lessons learned among others.

The project, the first of its kind in the Ministry was aimed at improving the skills and knowledge of the RNR staff in terms of agriculture, livestock, forest, market, management and administration. With a total budget of 4.6 M Euro, it funded 7 master’s programme, 606 advanced training and 526 basic training for the RNR staff.

The project made a significant contribution in the field of mushroom, field crops, post-harvest technology, good agriculture practices, piggery, food safety and biosecurity, feed technology, marketing, forestry management and COVID19 pandemic situation.

It also supported 756 nos. of farm shop equipment including deep freezers, display fridges, cool boxes and vacuum packing machine. It further facilitated the development of the Ministry’s HR information management system among others.

The project which was implemented from August 2017 will come to an end in July 2021. Under the project, the Ministry played a key role in improving the livelihood in rural areas, ensuring food security and alleviating poverty in the country.
