24-27 January, 2023: His Excellency Sanam Lyonpo visited three Gewogs (Samkhar, Kanglung and Udzorong) under Trashigang Dzongkhag from 24th January to 27th January, 2023. HSL also visited few Chiwogs which were far flung from the Gewog Centers.The team was accompanied by National Assembly member of Parliament of Mongar constituency Dasho Karma Lhamo, Dzongkhag Agriculture & livestock Sector, Program Director of Commercial Agriculture and Livelihood Project (CARLEP) and officials from Regional Agricultural Marketing & Cooperatives Office (RAMCO). The team visited some of the poverty prevalence Chiwogs of three Gewogs (Chiya Chiwog under Udzorong, Rangshikhar, pam & Khapti -Bikhar under Samkhar Gewog & Rongthung under Kanglung Gewog).
HE Sanam Lyonpo interacted with famers and briefed on the on-going RNR activities such as 2nd phase million fruits tree plantation program (MFTP) which will start from February 2023 in all 205 Gewogs across the country. HSL briefed public on the 12 FYP progress and programs, and urged people’s participation in preparation of 13th FYP. Besides that, HSL also briefed on the resolution of 8th session of the parliament especially on tax revision, Gyalsung bill and restructuring of civil servants and agencies.
HSL urged public to change strategies in doing agricultural related activities focusing on market led production, value-addition, packaging, commercial farming and rural economy enhancement. Moreover, the issues of the public on improvement of high breed vegetable and fruits products, farm road, fertilizers, Chain-link fencing, land Development, Farm machinery power tiller services, supply of high yield variety seed and seedling of both vegetables & fruits to enhance income for the improvement of rural livelihood were discussed and the relevant agencies were instructed accordingly. Lyonpo informed that the youths should come up with new idea/technology/innovation using ICT in agricultural related activities through formation of groups and cooperatives. Beside other RNR related HSL & MP also discussed with the public on the drinking water shortage, internal road connectivity, education reforms on closure of small schools, land related issue, new taxation, Civil services reform and many others.
During his four-day tour, H.E met with Gewog Thrizin, Chiwog Tshopas of every Gewog and presented on the ongoing plans and programs, progress and its issue during the implementation of the plan. Lyonpo iterated and urged public to take active participation in local development plans and programs especially in preparation of 13th FYP.
H.E Sanam Lyonpo and team also attended the on-going Moelam Chenmo of Trashigang Dzongkhag, which is presided over by H.E Tshugla Lopen Rinpoche of Zhung Dratshang along with lams and monks of Trashigang Rabdey and Kanglung Shedra.
On the entourage to Thimphu, Sanam Lyonpo graced the 54th Batch Desuung passing out parade program at Deothang, Samdrup Jongkhar on 29th January,2023.
