๐๐ ๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐ก๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ก๐ฎ: A consultative meeting to bring together the Sawmillers and Exporters to fulfill the wooden box requirements for the oranges and apples export was held on 17th May 2023 at BCCI hall, Thimphu. The meeting was coordinated by Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industries in collaboration with Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives with participation from all relevant agencies like Department of Forests and Park services, Department of Trade, Bhutan Food and Drug Authority, Association of Wood Based Industries and Bhutan Exporters Association.
The meeting was held with the main objective to fulfill the wooden box requirement for the orange and apple export, finalize the sales deed agreement form between Sawmillers and Exporters with consensus on price, quantity, box specification, advance payment, delivery schedule, etc. and also to define clear Terms of Reference for all the relevant stakeholders for the supply of wooden box.
After much deliberation, it was agreed that the Sawmillers will supply the full requirement of wooden boxes at the rate of Nu. 95/box for the 2023-2024 Fiscal Year export season. As reported by AWBI, the total production is projected at 400,000 boxes from different Sawmillers and it is expected to meet the requirement of the exporters.
The sales deed agreement was discussed in length, and agreed by both the parties (Sawmillers and Exporters). The two parties will sign the agreement within May 2023, and it will be witnessed by their respective associations i.e. Bhutan Exporters Association and Association of Wood Based Industries.
