Vacancy Re-announcement for Trade Attache (Agriculture)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock is pleased to re-announce the vacancies for 2 Trade Attachés at the Royal Bhutanese Consulate (RBC), Kolkata and the Royal Bhutanese Embassy (RBE), Dhaka based on the following terms and conditions:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The applicant should:

be serving at P1 or P2 level in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL)
have completed and served a minimum of 2 years in the current position (for both P1 and P2 level);
have served and completed a minimum of 3 years of service in the MoAL;
have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree;
have a clean service record.

The applicant should NOT:

have served in any prior foreign postings in Embassy/Mission/Consulate;
be currently on secondment;
be currently on Extraordinary Leave.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

In addition to the above, applicants possessing the following shall be preferred:

Experience working on international trade and investment related issues;
Strong spoken and written communication skills;
Strong interpersonal and team working skills;
Ability to work in a multicultural and diverse environment.

APPOINTMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The selected applicants shall agree to the following:

The posting will be for a period of three years, without extension;
The current post held by the applicant in the Ministry will not be protected;
The selection to this post shall not result in promotion;
Prior to assuming the foreign posting, s/he shall be attached with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade for a minimum period of one week or longer as deemed necessary for relevant briefings.
The official will be recalled in case s/he does not meet the expectations of service delivery as prescribed in the Terms of Reference.
S/he shall maintain communication with the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Co-operatives (DAMC) on a regular basis.
S/he shall submit a quarterly report to DAMC on the tasks undertaken to facilitate trade, business and investment during their tenure in the Consulate/Embassy.
S/he shall serve in the DAMC for at least 3 years after completion of Trade Attaché Term (as officer on special assignment)
