Closing of FSS Pilot Testing Program at Chimipang Royal Project

30 December, Punakha: The Food Security Skilling (FSS) pilot program at Chimipang Royal Project, a key initiative under the Gyalsung project, concluded successfully after a six-month testing phase. The closing ceremony hosted eminent personalities who celebrated the FSS team’s efforts and the participation of 57 De-Suups. Hon’ble Dasho Secretary, MoAL was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

The program equipped participants with essential agricultural skill and knowledge, preparing them for future roles as Gyalsups to enhance agriculture development. The Ministry hopes  that these skilled individuals will share their expertise, fostering agricultural growth within their communities.

The FSS curriculum, developed by experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and College of Natural Resources, covers diverse agricultural aspects of crop production technology, farm economic, and marketing elements essential for successful farming business. The program’s structure and content were rigorously evaluated to ensure effectiveness and relevance for future Gyalsups.

The trained Desuups are encouraged to take up agriculture farming as their livelihood. Some of them will be recruited as instructors for the Gyalsung Food Security Skilling Program and some will be engaged in other agricultural projects like the Million Fruit Tree Project.  Hon’ble Secretary Dasho Thinley Namgyel commended the FSS team and De-Suups for their dedication, emphasizing their crucial role in shaping Bhutan’s agriculture in future.
