12 September 2026 – Thimphu: His Majesty The King conferred Dhar today appointing Dr. Tashi Yangzome Dorji, former Director General of the Department of Livestock under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL), as the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
She brings with her more than three decades of distinguished service in the civil service. She joined the civil service on 1 August 1995 and has served in various capacities within the livestock sector, progressively taking on leadership responsibilities.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Murdoch University, Australia, and a Master’s Degree in Wild Animal Health from the Royal Veterinary College, Royal College, London, United Kingdom. She has also undertaken various professional trainings and participated in regional and international conferences related to livestock, animal health, food systems, and sustainable livestock transformation.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Tashi Yangzome Dorji has served in several key positions, beginning as a Veterinary Officer and subsequently taking on progressively senior responsibilities, including Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer, Program Director, Director, and Director General. Her extensive professional experience encompasses livestock development, animal health and related areas of the agriculture and livestock sector.
The Ministry warmly welcomes Dr. Tashi Yangzome Dorji to her new role as Secretary and looks forward to her leadership and continued contribution towards strengthening the Ministry’s mandate and advancing the development of the agriculture and livestock sector in the country.
