13 February 2025, Thimphu: The SNV Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Simon O’Connell and Country Director for Bhutan and Nepal, Ms. Lenneke Braam called on the Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock. The Hon’ble Minister extended a warm welcome to the SNV delegation to Bhutan and the Ministry in particular, and acknowledged the critical role development partners, like SNV, have played in advancing Bhutan’s agricultural sector over the past decades.
The delegation shared insights on SNV’s long-standing operations in Bhutan since 1988. Both parties discussed potential collaborative opportunities, including creating viable prospects for young people in the agrifood sector, the Bhutan AgriSustain Fund, and exploring the nexus between energy, water, and agrifood, emphasizing how these interconnected sectors are crucial for sustainable agricultural development.
The meeting concluded by acknowledging the vital role SNV can play in addressing the challenges faced by the agrifood sector in Bhutan and advancing sustainability.
