2 July 2025: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Royal Government of Bhutan with support from the ๐๐-๐๐๐๐ก๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐ ๐ซ๐ข-๐ ๐จ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐ฌ (EU-TAAS) implemented by ๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ก๐ฎ๐ญ๐๐ง, is conducting a two-day Training of Trainers in Punakha to roll out the ๐ ๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐๐ฒ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ฆ (FRS).
The FRS is a digital platform developed by the Department of Agriculture to serve as a single source of information for the sector โ capturing real-time data on landholdings, cropping systems, irrigation, mechanization, and more.
Once trained, the focal officials from central programmes and the research centres will cascade this training to agriculture extension officers across all dzongkhags and gewogs. The nationwide data collection will begin soon following the training of trainers, marking a critical step in building a comprehensive baseline for policy planning and targeted interventions.
By integrating with national land and population databases โ and eventually Bhutanโs National Digital Identity (NDI) platform โ the FRS will enable better planning, smarter investments, and more resilient responses to agricultureโs pressing challenges, including climate change and rural outmigration.
